A Simple Plan For The Day

“Never do anything tomorrow that you can do today”
Is a common old powerful phrase
Similarly James 4:13-14 says “Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain; Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow.”

So, true.

Recently, I had my day all planned out, only to wake up not feeling well and unable to get out of bed. I ended up sleeping half the day.
When I was able to get up, it made me think about how easy it is to take for granted the ability to perform every day, routine, tasks. Sometimes, due to unforeseen circumstances, we can’t even execute a simple plan for the day.
It also made me think about James 4:15 that says “For that ye ought to say, if the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that”.

Every good and perfect thing comes from the Lord (James 1:17. We can’t even carry out a simple plan of the day, without His grace and mercy which makes it possible.

God Why?

Spend the day, spend the night, asking why
No one can answer
Not the self-help gurus
Not the prophets or preachers
No one can say why things happen
Is it payback for some sin?
Why this keeps happening again and again

Even when I ask God why
He doesn’t give me an answer
But what He does give me is His grace
As just when this thorn really starts to cut
He sends someone or does something to lift me up
He reminds me He hears my cries
Even with my thorn, longer I can survive
Everyone has a thorn or problem that is persistent
Yet, God’s grace is sufficient.
Scripture Reference 2 Corinthians 12:7-9
And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. 12:8For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. 12:9And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.

Most, if not all of us have some type of chronic problem. It could be constantly losing a job, it could be an illness, relationship issues or anything. God doesn’t necessarily make the problem go away no matter how much we pray or ask Him why we are plagued with. But what He does is give us the strength and resources to deal with the problem; as His grace is sufficient.

Pray Like An Athlete Plays

The tennis player was one set from elimination
Yet, the score served as no intimidation
Her serves and volleys stayed in continuation
Like she was going to have a championship celebration

Similarly, in one NBA finals
The team was three games behind in best of seven
No team ever won from this far behind
Yet, the team leader played like games just started
Didn’t care about the score or time

Common traits I’ve noticed among great athletes
They don’t care how far behind in scoring they are
They don’t care what little time they got
They press forward like the game has just started
Determined to win in their hearts
They don’t let opponents intimidate them
I’ve seen great athletes almost loose
Only to come back and ultimately win

When it comes to prayer,
I aspire to pray like an athlete plays
Pray without ceasing
Don’t let Devil intimidate me into getting beaten

It doesn’t matter how bad it looks
It doesn’t matter about the time on the clock
If you wanna win; pray with all the strength you got
When it seems, there are no more good days
Pray like an athlete plays.
