As the hart panteth after the water brook

So my heart pant eth after You
To hear Thy voice, feel Thy presence
To lift my hands up to heaven
And praise You in effervescence

Like the water that sustain the greenery
I pray You sustain me
And forever close we be
With your water I will never be thirsty.

Scripture reference – Psalm 42, John 4:13

A Special Meal

No special china or table settings
Just simple food I’m expecting
It’s not a special occasion or a holiday
Yet, I’m excited about this meal today
As I get to see ones for a while, I haven’t seen
And that makes this a special meal

Eating is a commonality
So a meal brings togetherness naturally
Conversations become more deep
When taking the time to talk and eat
You get to know one better
As you make memories of talk and laughter
And the feel of being near
Those you hold dear
Makes it a special meal

Lord thanks for every opportunity
To sit down to share and eat
With those special to me
Not only the hunger it does fulfill
But positive emotions I feel
Makes it a special meal

Scripture reference Acts: 2:46-47
Background

A simple meal meant to just fulfill hunger can be transformed into a joyous filled occasion when it is shared with someone special. Acts 2:46-47 talks about how the church people experienced joy and togetherness from gathering at each other homes to fellowship over a meal. Sharing a meal creates a way to bond because even if there is nothing to talk about, one can talk about how they like the food. It is also a way to get to know someone, or a way to reunite with someone you have not seen in a while. Thank you Lord for every meal that is transformed from simple to special.

From Calamity to Calm

So many things to do
From planning on how to make them happen
To paying for them too
The build-up in my mind and body
Puts me on the verge of calamity
So I ask, God, why does everything fall on me?

And He answers me
You’d rather not have the capability to lead?
You’d rather not have resources others need?
Calm down and accept the responsibility
You make things worse by worrying

So once the calmness got into me, I started to change the way I think
Rather than complaining, I started thanking
Thanks Lord for my capabilities
Due to worry, sometimes trouble is not real, just perceived
And then thanks that You will help me deal with any thing
From calamity to calm You did bring.

Scripture Reference: Mark 4:37-41
Background

Life can seem overwhelming sometimes when there is so much to do and you have to take the lead in seeing to it being done. It can also seem overbearing when many folks come to you for money. But would you rather not have money? Would you rather not have the mind and capability to lead people? What seems like a burden can actually be a blessing because God has thought so much of you, that He’s trusted you with resources and decisions. He will give you calmness and support when it is needed just like Jesus calmed the sea in Mark 37-41.
