Comfort After Death

My first morning glance at the internet website gave me some shockingly sad news
One of my favorite TV host of one of my favorite shows had died
This was so unexpected to the world as he wasn’t sick or old
What an emptiness I felt even though him I didn’t personally know
To his tv show I’d look forward, now my tv night will have a big void

But that’s what death does— leaves a big void
Especially if the relationship was close
You wonder how you can carry on
Jesus said blessed are those who mourn (Matthew 5:4)
As God has amazing ways to provide comfort

Sometimes he brings new relationships to your life
Other times you grow closer to the ones left behind
Then the pain of void just dulls over time

No one can figure out death, why it is such a thing
How come people you love can’t just go on existing?
It’s just not God’s design for anything to keep on living
But it is in His his design to provide comforting
And I can attest that He will provide comfort after death.

180 Degrees

Last night in bed I was literally praying out loud
Seems like this problem would never itself work out
I know to keep faith and not doubt
But this lingering problem was wearing me down

This afternoon life did 180 degrees turn around
A phone call came in and that person would really help out
I know my problem is not permanently fixed
But the blessings today let me know God’s working on it
It’s like taking a pill to relieve the pain
While waiting for permanent healing in order to never hurt again

Thank You Lord for what you have done
I’m grateful for even the slightest relief
As I keep the faith and believe
That this problem will turn forever 180 degrees.

More

The checks I earned were not adding up
I wanted to make that purchase but didn’t have enough
Even though the Bible says ask and ye shall receive
I didn’t pray about it because item wasn’t a necessity
As it was more of a want than a need

Today at work, a call from the boss I received
Boss explained that more of my time was needed
More time, meant more money
Suddenly that Item I wanted was in reach
God had looked on me favorably (Job 10:12)
An example of God’s greatness and compassion this week.

Insight
When my job told me they were giving me more hours, I knew that was God showing me favor. The additional hours they were giving me would allow me to earn enough money for the item I wanted to buy. It was favor because this wasn’t something I prayed about; this was just an example of God giving good gifts to his children (Matthew 7:12). As all good and perfect gifts come from him (James 1:17)
