Missing You

We had our battles especially when we first met
I didn’t believe your love
But as the conversations became longer
My trust in you got stronger
And I found that you were sincere
Even though your actions could be weird

And then we became close
You told me everything I should know
And I shared about me what was going on
And we talked all night long

Then suddenly, you’re gone
But I don’t question God’s actions
Of life, I know He is in control (Genesis 2:7)
I’m just missing you so

Miss talking about what’s on TV
Miss what was discussed to eat
Miss your laughter
And our gatherings
May you be blessed in Heaven.

Insight
Life and death are in the hands of God. Here are some examples.
God created all life. He created human life by breathing into the nostrils of man as stated in Genesis 2:7.
God sustains and extends life. In Isaiah 38: 1-5, Hezekiah prayed that he wouldn’t die. The Lord heard his prayers and extended his life by 15 years
God revives life. Many times Jesus raised the dead. In John 11:1-46 Jesus brought Lazarus back to life from death.
God ends life. Many of us know a point in someone’s life when all the prayers, medicine and everything else couldn’t keep the person alive. For God gives and God takes away (Job 1:21). And Jesus said in Luke 12:7 that the very hairs of our head are numbered meaning that we don’t have the ultimate decision over our lives.

Life After Death

Today I got some exciting news
Was about to reach for the phone to share with you
Before the number I dialed
It sunk in that I could no longer hear your voice or see your smile
Your being gone, has nearly silenced my phone
Will I end up all alone?
Is there life after death?

For Christian souls, after life on earth they live with the Lord
But how about life on earth after someone’s gone?
Life changes as survivors have to go on
But it’s scary and sad when life after death is unknown

When it happened before God filled the void
As new friendships and relationships were formed
But that was in the days of youth
When strangers more easily befriended you
And there was work and plenty of activities to do

But now will there be life after death?
Yes? Why?
God hasn’t died
He’s still able to provide
Jesus said Those who mourn will be comforted (Matthew 5:4)
Beyond that, I’ll continue to pray
Knowing God will change the situation or adjust my ways
Insight
When someone you have a close relationship with dies, it leaves a big, lonely void. You wonder what will life be like now. Will you continue to be sad and lonely or will God fill the void with new life and relationships. None of us know for sure how God will work it out. And while our lives may have changed, God is still great and compassionate. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8).

My Story

At the gathering, during the time of remarks
I was going to tell the whole story
The sad, the rocky, everything
I was going to talk about the overcoming and going on to do amazing things
I thought by telling my story, I’d get glory
Because I’d emphasize the overcoming

But before I told my story, the Lord put some words in me
You’re telling this story, but haven’t checked with the family
Bad feelings towards you this may leave
And your story will cause others to live the past unnecessarily
His words caused me to think and meditate
Telling my story to all is not so great,
And who told me to tell everything anyway?
I remembered the scripture those that exalt them selves shall be abased (Matthew 23:12)

So when the time came to say something
I said nothing, as I would have had a lot to regret
A famous person once said “ some things are better not said”
Thanks Lord for giving me restraint.

Insight
Think before you speak.  Know your audience before you speak. Some things may need to be told, but be careful who you tell them to.  And make sure you are telling it to benefit them and not you.
