God Can Handle Weigh More Than Me

Several folks told me this week of problems in their families
At one point I started to feel the weight of so much sad news mentality
I looked to the Lord and He reminded me
These burdens are for Him, not me
I’m to help if I can, listen, and pray on their behalf constantly ( James 5:14-16)
But not to let uncontrolled problems weigh me down with worry
God already knows about it and can handle way more than me
And nothing can weigh Him down mentality.

Convicted

How much do you really trust God?
It may be easy to say until faced with a difficult reality
I was recently convicted of a lack of trust
I had just talked about how God would provide comfort after death (Matthew 5:4)
I told myself I would promote this message
Then I received news that almost made me regret it

Two people real close to me got sick and could have went on to heaven
And so now I have to apply my own message to myself
It was hard to imagine my life after losses so devastating
So I didn’t initially keep my word to promote my message

Then I read something in a spiritual book
It talked about the sin of not believing or lack of faith
And I had to ask myself did I really trust God to provide comfort again
If I didn’t believe my own message, I was being like a hypocrite
And at that point I was convicted

God had provided comfort in the past and I am to trust He will do it again
We don’t control life, every breath is controlled by Him
And God has proven Himself over and over to me
If i’m going to believe, I should do so no matter how difficult the outcome is to receive

Insight
It’s an old saying “some things are easier said than done” . This can apply to having faith too. For example, if your company is laying off, you can say you trust God to provide; but you spend time worrying about how you will pay bills without an income. Abraham lived out a great example of having faith. Many of us can’t imagine slaying our own child as we trust God to provide. But Abraham’s faith was so strong that he was willing to go that far (Genesis 22: 1-14). The Bible says without faith it is impossible to please God. When I thought about how I was not pleasing God or being hypocritical in not trusting Him to provide comfort after death again; then I became convicted. After all, Jesus said don’t worry about the things of tomorrow as it’s enough to worry about today ( Matthew 6:34).

Comfort After Death

My first morning glance at the internet website gave me some shockingly sad news
One of my favorite TV host of one of my favorite shows had died
This was so unexpected to the world as he wasn’t sick or old
What an emptiness I felt even though him I didn’t personally know
To his tv show I’d look forward, now my tv night will have a big void

But that’s what death does— leaves a big void
Especially if the relationship was close
You wonder how you can carry on
Jesus said blessed are those who mourn (Matthew 5:4)
As God has amazing ways to provide comfort

Sometimes he brings new relationships to your life
Other times you grow closer to the ones left behind
Then the pain of void just dulls over time

No one can figure out death, why it is such a thing
How come people you love can’t just go on existing?
It’s just not God’s design for anything to keep on living
But it is in His his design to provide comforting
And I can attest that He will provide comfort after death.
