God’s Work or My Work

Been so busy doing my day job
Worrying about how co-workers will respond
Resisting the urge to check email on my private time
It’s been hard to relax and unwind
And fast has gone the time

So fast that Sunday is hours away
And I have prepared nothing for God’s day
I should adhere to Matthew 6:33
Shouldn’t go into Sunday empty
Working for God is more important than working for me
After all, He makes my day job a possibility.

And once I made that shift
I could feel the anxiety lift
Lord, thanks for reminding me
To make your work a priority

Let Your Word And Spirit Ignite Me

To spread like fire the works of your great majesty
You can bring light like the fire in the night
To do away with the darkness in life

The warmth from your heart exceeds any fire’s temperature
As your tender hearted mercies constantly cares for us
For all You do and all You are, I can describe only a part
So let it spread like fire from a spark.

Against The Odds

You should have been withered and gone
The elements that nurture you have moved on
But you are vibrant and standing strong
So why are you lasting so long?
Even your color hasn’t changed
Is all this strange?

Or is it due to the power of God?
He can let us stand against the odds
When nature says we should fall
God will allow us to stand tall
When from normal channels we are not nourished
God can still allow us to flourish

So, the days of sunshine can be few
Forecast can show no rain or dew
The wind can go from warm to cold
Yet, the plant will not wilt or fold
Like the plant against the odds
We can withstand any condition with the help of God.
