Fire The Envy

They’re having more fun than me – – it seems
I wanna do what their doing, have what they have
I was happy with what the Lord gave to me
Until I see what others have now I’m not happy (Exodus 20:17)
What causes these types of feelings?

It was an old saying, on the other side grass is more green
And, it seems that way when you lose focus on your own blessings
If God gave you exactly what you were asking
And instead of being thankful; to others you are comparing
Then, God’s blessings you are not appreciating
You’re being envious of others instead of celebrating

While there is always going to be others with more prosperity
Yet, there are still others who wished they had the blessings God bestowed on me
So, I need to fire the envy
And focus and rejoice on what God has given me.

In Everything Give Thanks

Expected to get back from an errand in time to see the news
But car wouldn’t start leaving me stuck unexpectedly
With the windows rolled down and inside exposed
I could have gotten upset, but I found reasons to give God thanks
As it could have been at night or in inclement weather
But it was on a sunny warm day, and I was surrounded by folk I knew
And in a familiar area and on a bus line
So, instead of being disappointed, i’m being thankful.
Like the Bible says, in everything give thanks (1 Thessalonians 5:18)

God Can Handle Weigh More Than Me

Several folks told me this week of problems in their families
At one point I started to feel the weight of so much sad news mentality
I looked to the Lord and He reminded me
These burdens are for Him, not me
I’m to help if I can, listen, and pray on their behalf constantly ( James 5:14-16)
But not to let uncontrolled problems weigh me down with worry
God already knows about it and can handle way more than me
And nothing can weigh Him down mentality.
