I’m So Glad To Be Your Child

As I look at you with adoration
I think of your Godly qualities
I just smile
You’re such a wonderful father
And I’m so glad to be your child

You’ve played many roles
Father, brother, uncle, son
And I’m sure the whole family will agree
That you’ve played these roles so importantly
As you’ve impacted our lives so positively

Usually kids will give parents a reason to boast
It ‘s the opposite this time
I want everyone to know
You’re such a wonderful father
And I’m so glad to be your child.

Written in honor of my earthly father who adhered to the heavenly Father’s words in Ephesians 6:4 that says “And ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord”.  And in Proverbs 22:6  that says “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

If You Were Reflected In Me

Your lifestyle has been so exemplary
It’s what I aspire mine to be
If you were reflected in me
What most would I want people to see?

A big heart filled with compassion and generosity?
A reverence and fear for the Almighty?
A sense of justness and honesty?
A willingness to always help in need?
A lifestyle of high morals and integrity?
On goes the list of fine qualities
But which one would I want most perceived
If you were reflected in me

Kindness is what I’d want them to see
Kindness is part of all your qualities
And to God I give praise and glory
For making you so fearfully and wonderfully (Psalm 139:14)

It’s Just A $7 T-shirt

After going to many stores
I finally found the long sleeve t-shirt I’d been looking for
I don’t like having a lot of stuff around the house
So, my plan was once I found the long sleeve shirt
I’d give the similar short sleeve one away

But then I started thinking
I can take the old shirt and use it for a car wash cloth
Or some other cleaning purpose
But then I heard the voice of God say
“You still gonna give it away, aren’t you?”
My response:
But God, it’s nothing but a $7 t-shirt
His response:
That shirt could be exactly what someone else is looking for
You don’t know how it will bless someone else
And you said when you found the shirt you really wanted
You’d give the old one away

After this, two things came to mind
1) Obedience is better than sacrifice (1 Samuel 15:22)
It is better to obey the voice of the Lord whether it makes sense or not
God can see into the future unlike us
And, He keeps His word with us, so we should keep our word with others

2) The adage that says:
One person’s garbage is another person’s treasure
Because something is no longer useful to you
Doesn’t mean it won’t be useful to someone else
That’s why people have yard sales
Something old and cheap
Could be what someone else needs
Even if it’s just a $7 t-shirt.
