The Lord Showing His Love For Me

So, as I’m running on the track
I started craving a certain snack
I know this snack I shouldn’t eat
As its effect would negate my running
But as I’m running, I try to justify
Just a small amount wouldn’t hurt one time
And I’m going to the store when I’m done
So I’ll get this snack—just a small one

In the store there were three things I needed to buy
As I get to the snack aisle
Lo and behold, for the first time I can remember
They are sold out of this certain flavor
Plenty of other flavors I did see
But not the one that would satisfy my craving
How’s that for the Lord showing His love for me

Never in the decades that I’ve been going to stores
Have one of them been sold out of this product before
I was going to buy and eat something I didn’t need
But God was showing His love and did intercede
As He caused the store not to have what I was seeking.

Scripture reference:  1 Corinthians 6:19-20  body is temple
Background
God loves us so much that He looks out for us even when we don’t look out for ourselves.  In 1 Corinthians 6: 19 it states our body is a temple of the Holy Ghost.  Therefore, we should treat it with respect and take care of it.  But sometimes that can be hard to do.  Who wants to exercise every time they are supposed to?    And who can always resist the foods they love?  I’m just grateful for a loving heavenly Father, that will always find a way to look out for our best interests.

I Am Grateful–That’s My Story

I am grateful-that’s my story
For the grace and mercy, You’ve bestowed upon me
I give You thanks, praise and glory
God, You are beyond majesty and royalty

Don’t mind bowing my head and getting on my knees
To thank You so profusely
For hearing my cries and pleas
And blessing so miraculously

Don’t mind raising my hands and looking up
And shouting to the top of my lungs
Thank You Lord, Thank You Holy One
Thanks for the miracles You have done

There’s no end to Your love and generosity
New mornings, new mercies there be
For that I am grateful-that’s my story
And I will tell it all the days before me

Scripture Reference: Psalms
Background
I can never thank God enough for the miracles He has done in my life and for the merciful kindness He has shown me. I want to spread the goodness of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and His son the Lord Jesus Christ much as I can. This is a message of being very grateful to the Lord for all of His miraculous, merciful works. I like to read the book of Psalms because it is so many of them that talk about giving thanks and Praise to the Lord. One of my favorite verses is Psalm 75:1 which starts out “Unto thee, O God, do we give thanks”…

Typical Day of Thanksgiving

Lord, another day You did create
Before I do anything, a few minutes I take
To read your word and meditate
As your word may give me directions for the day
Or inspire me in some kind of way
Afterwards, a prayer of thanks I say

I say thanks I can take care of my needs
From morning hygiene, to breakfast to eat
And before I get out on the street
I say thanks for giving me the opportunity
To either go to work, or where I please
Then I pray for safety before I leave

I want every day to be fun and exciting
But it’s not always that way in reality
I may get an incident when driving
Or have an encounter with someone unfriendly
But if the day turns out drama free, I’ll be happy
No matter what happens, I know You’re there with me

Then when my outside activities cease
I head home to relax and sleep
Thanks for providing a home for me
And thanks for letting me arrive safely
Tomorrow all of this should repeat
As it’s a typical day of thanks for me

Scripture Reference: 1 Thessalonians 5:18
Background
It’s so easy to take for granted typical day activities such as the ability to get out of bed, take care of routine hygienic matters, eat breakfast and go to work. Ah, but imagine not being able to do one of these things. It will turn life upside down. Therefore, I want to daily thank God for everything. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 says in everything give thanks. What seems so small can become a big deal especially if you are not able to do it.
